Phenolic rods are a hard, dense material made by applying heat and pressure to fiber or fabric and apply a synthetic resin. Phenolics are the one of the oldest, best-known general purpose thermoset resin. Each grade is lightweight, about half the weight of aluminum, and have an unusual combination of properties. Some of the uses of phenolic material include but are not limited to bearings, gears, gaskets, washers, transformers, and various machining components.
- Good acid resistance
- Low voltage
- Low frequency electrical performance
- Easily machined
- Good mechanical strength
