Description

Weld-On® 16 (DCM & TCE Free) is a thickened, medium-bodied acrylic solvent cement designed for bonding acrylic and other compatible thermoplastics. Unlike water-thin cements such as Weld-On 3 or Weld-On 4, this syrupy formula provides excellent gap-filling capabilities and controlled application on vertical or irregular surfaces. It is formulated without methylene chloride (DCM) or trichloroethylene (TCE), offering a safer, modern alternative without sacrificing bond strength or durability.

Why Choose Weld-On 16?

  • Gap-Filling Strength: Ideal for imperfect joints, rough cuts, or vertical assemblies where thinner cements may run.
  • Thicker Consistency: Syrupy viscosity allows precise placement and prevents dripping.
  • DCM & TCE Free: Safer handling with reduced health risks compared to older solvent cement formulas.
  • Strong, Reliable Bonds: Produces durable, high-strength acrylic bonds that continue to increase in strength over several hours.
  • Versatile Applications: Perfect for sign fabrication, acrylic displays, furniture, museum cases, plastic containers, and general fabrication projects.

Substrate Recommendations

Formulated for bonding acrylic (PMMA) to itself and to other compatible plastics. Not recommended for cross-linked acrylics or applications requiring water-thin penetration cements.

Common Uses

Weld-On 16 is trusted by professional fabricators, sign makers, and OEMs for projects requiring clear, strong, and precise acrylic joints. Its gap-filling properties make it especially useful in display case assembly, retail fixtures, medical equipment housings, signage, and general acrylic fabrication.

Additional Information

This product is intended for industrial and professional use only. Not recommended for consumer use. Always check VOC regulations in your region before purchasing — Weld-On 16 is not compliant in Southern California and certain jurisdictions due to VOC restrictions.

Technical

Technical Data Sheet (TDS)

Key Properties

  • Appearance: Colorless, syrupy liquid
  • Viscosity: ~800 cP at 23°C
