Description
Weld-On 1829 is a medium bodied, water-resistant, modified elastomer and light tan in color. It is a part solvent cement which cures with the dissipation of solvent to a very tough flexible film. It forms strong joints with rigid materials, but affords high impact resistance because of its flexibility. It is highly resistant to water, oil and gasoline. A thin film exposed to air will dry in 3 to 7 minutes.
Substrate Recommendations
A wide variety of plastics and non-plastics to themselves and to each other; such as flexible and rigid vinyls, acrylics, urethane foam and others to metal, glass, canvas, rubber and other non-plastics.
Bonding Recommendations
Weld-On 1829 is being used in marine applications for bonding plasticized vinyls to metal and patching vinyl sheets. It is also used in upholstering vinyl seats, bonding vinyl to urethane foam, canvas, as well as other materials and attaching plastic letters to many substrates.
Other Uses: Repair of sporting equipment, leather goods, shoes, saddles, belts and handbags.

Directions
Directions for Use
Clean surfaces to be joined.
Coat each mating surface (2 coats if porous). Allow about 2 to 5 minutes for each to dry before assembly. Film should be slightly tacky but not enough to transfer to the fingers using a light touch. Heavy coating may require slightly longer to dry.
Press parts firmly together. Use clamps or weights until cement has set sufficiently for handling strength. If parts are strained, do not remove clamps for at least a few hours, depending on materials and room temperature.
Initial bond is suitable for handling. For good strength, allow 16 to 24 hours and bond strength will continue to increase for a number of weeks.
When applying cement to one piece, bring other piece in contact immediately and maintain contact for a few hours before removing clamps or weights.
Shelf Life
Two years expectancy in tightly sealed containers. Stability of the product is limited by the permanence of the container and the evaporation of the solvent when the container is open. Evaporation of solvent will cause the cement to thicken and reduce the effectiveness of the cement.
Safety
Safety and Environmental Precautions
This product is a flammable, fast evaporating solvent cement. It is considered a hazardous material. In conformance with the Federal Hazardous Substance Labeling Act, the following hazards and precautions are given. Purchasers who may re-package this product must also conform to all local, state, and federal labeling, safety and other regulations.
WARNING! FLAMMABLE. VAPOR HARMFUL. MAY BE HARMFUL IF SWALLOWED. MAY IRRITATE SKIN OR EYES.
Keep out of reach of children. Do not take internally. Keep away from heat, spark, open flame and other sources of ignition. Keep container closed when not in use. Store away from direct sunlight between 40º F – 110º F (5º C – 43º C). Use only with adequate ventilation. Avoid breathing of vapors. Atmospheric levels should be maintained below established exposure limit values contained in Section II and VIII of the Material Safety Data Sheet. If airborne concentrations exceed those limits, use of a NIOSH-approved organic vapor cartridge respirator with full face-piece is recommended. The effectiveness of an air-purifying respirator is limited. Use it only for a single short-term exposure. For emergency and other conditions where short-term exposure guidelines may be exceeded, use an approved positive pressure self-contained breathing apparatus. Do not smoke, eat or drink while working with this product. Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothing. May cause eye injury. Protective equipment such as gloves, safety goggles and impervious apron should be used. Carefully read Material Safety Data Sheet and follow all precautions.
Contains Methyl Ethyl Ketone (78-93-3). Do not use this product for other than intended use.

First Aid
Inhalation: If overcome with vapors, remove to fresh air. If not breathing, give artificial respiration. If breathing is difficult, give oxygen. Call physician.
Eye Contact: Flush with plenty of water for 15 minutes and call a physician.
Skin Contact: Wash skin with plenty of soap and water for at least 15 minutes. If irritation develops, get medical attention.
Ingestion: If swallowed, give 1 or 2 glasses of water or milk. Do not induce vomiting. Contact physician or poison control center immediately.
