Description
G-10 Sheet Description
G-10 is a high-pressure fiberglass laminate, a subset of phenolic materials, and is one of the toughest and most versatile thermoset plastic laminates. It is created by applying heat and pressure to layers of glass cloth and epoxy resin, resulting in a hard, dense material with excellent mechanical and electrical insulating properties. G-10 is widely used in industries that require superior strength and insulation, such as electronics, aerospace, and marine.
As a member of the phenolic family, G-10 inherits the heat resistance, chemical stability, and mechanical strength associated with phenolic materials, but with enhanced electrical insulation properties and higher moisture resistance due to its fiberglass content.
Comparison with Other Phenolic Materials
While G-10 is a fiberglass-reinforced material, standard phenolic materials like CE (Canvas Electrical Grade) and LE (Linen Electrical Grade) use canvas or linen fabric as the base material. G-10 outperforms traditional phenolic grades in terms of moisture resistance and electrical insulating properties but may have a higher cost. Both G-10 and traditional phenolics share excellent mechanical strength and machinability, but G-10 is better suited for applications requiring high moisture resistance and electrical insulation in humid conditions.

Maintenance
Maintenance
G-10 sheets are highly durable and require minimal maintenance. Cleaning can be done using a soft cloth and a mild detergent. Abrasive cleaners should be avoided to prevent damage to the surface. Due to its excellent resistance to moisture and chemicals, G-10 does not require special protection in most environments.

Safety & Handling
Safety & Handling
G-10 is a safe material to handle under normal conditions. However, like other fiberglass-based materials, dust from cutting or machining can be an irritant. It is recommended to use proper ventilation and dust control systems when machining G-10. Wear protective gloves and safety goggles when handling or cutting G-10 sheets.
