Overview
ULTEM® 1000 is an amorphous polyetherimide (PEI) that stands as one of the most frequently utilized high-performance materials. Known for its exceptional thermal performance, high mechanical strength, and stiffness, ULTEM 1000 is inherently flame retardant and exhibits excellent resistance to acids. It can operate continuously in steam and hot water, making it ideal for demanding environments.
As an amorphous engineering thermoplastic, ULTEM 1000 is characterized by high heat resistance, with a continuous use temperature of 338°F (170°C). The material offers high strength and modulus, as well as stable electrical insulating properties over a wide range of temperatures and frequencies. The unmodified resin is transparent with an amber tint, which contributes to its versatility in various applications.
